5 Tips for Healthy, Glowing Skin

1.  Use a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night every day.

Cleansing twice a day is very important to help remove any dirt, oil, or makeup left on the skin. The Skin Fitness cleansers that we use at Vitality Unlimited Spa do not contain any sulfates, which strip the acid mantle of its natural oils. These sulfates can also cause the skin to become dry and are very harsh chemical ingredients. Never sleep in makeup. Even rinsing your face off with a warm wash cloth is better than doing nothing, but it is ideal to use a cleanser.

2.  After cleansing, balance your skin’s PH level with PH-neutral toner.

Balancing the skin with a toner after cleansing is essential for every skin type. This will help remove any excess residue left over after cleansing. Toning also hydrates the skin and prepares it for nutrients that will be absorbed from serums and moisturizers.

3.  Exfoliate 2-3 times a week to stimulate new cell growth and remove dead skin cells.

A series of 3-4 peels or Microdermabrasion will also help with extra exfoliation leaving you with smoother toned skin

4.  For oily skin, moisturize daily in the morning with an oil-free gel.

For dry skin, use a hydrating, vitamin-rich moisturizer. Oxygen serum is especially good for dry or sun-damaged skin.
Moisturizing the skin is still important for oily skin because it will balance the oil production, but choosing one with a gel base is key. The Multi-Vitamin Balancing Repair Gel by Skin Fitness uses lemon extract to draw excess oils and beta-glucosamine which balances the oil production. Dry skin definitely requires a vitamin-rich moisturizer like the Multi-Vitamin Skin Repair Cream or the Blueberry Pumpkin Age Defying Cream by Skin Fitness. They both protect against premature aging. Exfoliating dry skin is crucial as well because it’s necessary to remove the dead skin cells first and then rehydrate the new skin underneath.

5.  Water, water, water!

Consider all the things you do on a daily basis that can promote dehydration such as exercise and caffeine intake. Even healthy beverages such as green tea can contain caffeine, so be sure to keep up with water intake. To figure out how much water you need to drink daily, take your weight in pounds and divide that in half. That number is the number of ounces you should be drinking.
